Notes - The Dehesa del Carrizal Estate is situated in the central area of the Iberian Peninsula known as the Montes de Toledo. It is an area of some 5,000 sq. km. with hills and a wide variety of game that enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate and separates the valleys of the Tajo and Guadiana rivers. Their vineyards of 23 hectares are planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay which are all grown on trellises. The cellar, built in 1999, is equipped with modern stainless steel installations and has all the technological means necessary for the careful elaboration of wine, and an ageing cellar with a capacity for 600 French Allier oak barrels. The young oenologist, Ignacio de Miguel, studied in Madrid and Bordeaux, and trained under Carlos Falcó and Michel Rolland. The Syrah is aged in French Oak barrels. The wine is deep cherry in colour with a medium to full density of colour. There are typical varietal aromas on the nose of berries, leather and slight nuances of oak. The palate is dry but fruity and powerful with berry fruit and good tannins. The elegant finish persists for a good while.
