The Barons Ricasoli have occupied Brolio for the 10 centuries since they established it in 1141, and during this time they have shaped the history of the Chianti Classico territory and its wines. Today, Barone Ricasoli, is the fourth oldest company in the world still run by its founding family and the first in Italy in the field of wine. It is the largest estate inside the Chianti Classico appellation, possessing 250 hectares planted to vine. The Chianti Classico DOCG Barone Ricasoli is produced primarily from Sangiovese with other grapes and aged in stainless steel vats and large oak cask. It is intense ruby red. The nose is vinous with floral hints, there are typcial Chianti Parma violets notes. It is spicy with cloves, pepper, chocolate and wild cherries. The palate is clean and mineral with soft tannins and chocolatey notes. The finish is fresh and well-balanced with good acidity. An excellent food wine, try with pasta or sausage stews.
