Notes - This semi-sweet red wine is a blend of 60% Saperavi and 40% Rkatsiteli. The name Alazani comes from one of the major river systems of Georgia that borders Georgia with Azerbaijan. The climate is slightly warmer than the rest of the Georgian Wine growing regions and gives rise to much sweeter grapes than those found elseware. GWS has given the name of this great river to this semi-sweet red to focus on this regions richness and ripeness. The grapes were vinified in the Achinebuli Winery under the watchful eyes of the GWS winemaking team. After fermentation and stabilization the wine was blended to create a soft semi-sweet wine with light fruit tones and low acidity for easy drinking purposes. The wine is light red when young and the color tends to soften to a brick colour within the first 2 years. The nose exhibits ripe berry fruit characters that are pleasant and sweet. The palate is obviously sweet and the wines are full with sweetness of sugar and fruit. The wine has obvious blackberry fruit tones and there is enough sweetness to make the wines full and refreshing on the palate.
