Notes - Pelago is produced from a selection of the best grapes from Umani Ronchi's Osimo vineyards. The vineyards are at an altitude of 150-200 metres. The grapes are handpicked before alcoholic fermentation on the skins for 15 days followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured for 14 months in Allier et Tronçais barriques, and refines in the bottle for 12 months in a thermo-conditioned room. The wine is full bodied with blackcurrant fruit aromas supported by spice and liquorice. The palate shows enormous depth of fruit with layers of plum, blackcurrant and fresh tobacco. Shows supple, soft, ripe and rounded tannins. A hearty full bodied wine that is ideal for similarly hearty foods. Try with venison or game dishes or rich stews or casseroles.
