Boony Doon Cigare Volant

Notes - In 1986 Bonny Doon Vineyard released the inaugural vintage of Le Cigare Volant, a Cryptoneuf-du-Pape inspired by the august wines of the southern Rhône. This "Cryptoneuf-du-Pape", inspired by the great wines of the southern Rhône is a blend of mourvedre, syrah and grenache and is a very big wine that would benefit from considerable ageing. "Good dark red. Slightly candied, urgent aromas of bitter cherry, raspberry, root beer, chicory, and charred oak. Supple, sappy, and fresh, with brisk, intense, fruit-driven flavors of bitter cherry, wild strawberry and cranberry. Finishes persistent and gripping, with fine, slightly drying tannins and palate-cleansing fruity acids." - 90 points-Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar.
