Notes - The Dehesa del Carrizal Estate is situated in the central area of the Iberian Peninsula known as the Montes de Toledo. It is an area of some 5,000 sq. km. with hills and a wide variety of game that enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate and separates the valleys of the Tajo and Guadiana rivers. Their vineyards of 23 hectares are planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay which are all grown on trellises. The cellar, built in 1999, is equipped with modern stainless steel installations and has all the technological means necessary for the careful elaboration of wine, and an ageing cellar with a capacity for 600 French Allier oak barrels. The young oenologist, Ignacio de Miguel, studied in Madrid and Bordeaux, and trained under Carlos Falcó and Michel Rolland. The MV is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot and is aged for 8 to 10 months in French oak. The wine is a deep cherry colour with a slightly brick red meniscus. On the nose there are berry fruits (blackberry and raspberry), cocoa and toasty, roast notes. The palate is dry but with a hint of sweetness, there are jammy hints and red fruit flavours leading to a long, persistent finish.
