Notes - Weingut Steininger is an estate owned and run by the Steininger family - Karl, Brigitta and their three daughters Eva, Lisa and Anna. They own 30ha of vineyards in Langenlois, which is Austria's wine capital, about 70km north-west of Vienna and 10km from Krems, north of the Danube. Kamptal (in Lower Austria) is one of Austria's largest wine-growing areas. This is real Grüner Veltliner country. 100% Grüner Veltliner, grapes solely from the 30ha estate. After pressing the whole bunches of grapes, the juice undergoes a temperature-controlled fermentation. Pale straw with green lights; a dry and fresh white wine with influences of green apples, grapefruit and lemon. All this underlined by the spice of white pepper and ripe acidity. A very typical Austrian 'GV' which can be enjoyed on its own or with fish and shellfish, chicken, cured pork, salads.
