Tasting Notes: Wakefield St. Andrews Chardonnay is straw with a green tinge to the hue and on the nose has fresh, lifted aromas of white peach and subtle citrus with cashew nut aromas adding interest to the fruit characters. The palate has a rich texture whilst still retaining a slightly minerally acid backbone, giving it an overall elegance. The mid palate has weight and creaminess from the extended lees maturation and battonage with flavours of white peach, cream and cashews. The finish has cleansing citrus flavours and length from the use of quality French oak.
Food & Wine match: Try it with classic roast chicken – French style or a rich and creamy seafood stew. Designed to drink superbly well upon release, it will also age gracefully with careful cellaring to 2013, possibly longer.
