Wine information:
Domaine Pascal Bellier is located in Vineuil, near the town of Blois, facing the famous Chateau de Chambord and the Loire. The vineyards of Cherverny are located between the forest of Sologne and the river Loire. Cheverny is a relatively new appellation, it gained it AOC in 1993, and wines are a blend of local traditonal grape varieties - Cheverny Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Domaine Pascal Bellier has been in the Bellier family since 1960 and the vineyards now cover 40 acres with an average vine age of 20 years. The entire area is based on a thick layer of limestone Beauce, partly covered by a clay soil - quartz, and partly by a sandy soil. The white grapes are planted on the sandy soils on hillsides with North West aspects. Bellier Cheverny Blanc is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The blend is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Chardonnay. It is a bright and clear wine. The nose has aromas of blackcurrant leaf, liquorice and citrus and white flowers. It is a dry and refreshing wine with good acidity. It makes an excellent aperitif or goes very well with seafood and fish.
