Eikendal Pinotage

Wine information: Situated in the Cape Winelands of South Africa the barrel-vaulted cellar buildings of Eikendal Vineyards form a distinctive landmark on the R44 route, positioned between the historic university town of Stellenbosch and the residential suburbs of Somerset West. Since 1981 the 76 ha large wine farm has been under the ownership of the Saager family from Zurich/ Switzerland. This 100% Pinotage is matured for 14 months in French oak barrels (30% of which are new). Red and black cherries abound on this well-structured Pinotage. The oak influence adds a touch of toffee and some coffee notes but the focus in predominantly on a soft and fruity Pinotage. Drink over the next 5 to 8 years.
