Wine information:
Vintage Ports are only produced or 'declared' in years of exceptional quality and represent a very small percentage (2 - 3%) of total Port production. The backbone of Dow's Vintage Ports are drawn from the companies' finest vineyards, Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Riberia, each property contributing to the wines unique character and class. Aged in wood for approximately 2 years and bottled unfiltered, Dow Vintage Ports are considered to be amongst the finest Vintage Ports produced. These fine wines can be enjoyed young and vibrant or allowed to aged for many years in bottle, developing their very own style, very different from all wood aged Ports.
"A classic vintage Port, both fleshy and firm on the palate. Medium to deep ruby, with a fresh strawberry nose, full-bodied, with focused fruit flavors, medium tannins, well-knit cherry and berry flavors and a long finish." 94/100 James Suckling, Wine Spectator.
"1970 produced some truly great wines which are only just ready to broach. Dow and Graham fall into this category and must rank among the 20th century's great vintage ports." Richard Mayson, December 2001 Decanter Magazine
