Wine information:
The growing of grapes and making of fine wines has been a part of this well known
Rheinhessen family since 1648. Today Louis Konstantin
Guntrum continues to build on the achievements of the previous ten generations and is producing some of the area's finest Rieslings from the twelve or so hectares he has under vine. The Guntrum cellars lie between the villages of
Nierstein and
Oppenheim in one of the most stunning locations beside the great river Rhine and house some exceptionally old, carved barrels. The vineyards here are composed of red slate, unique soil composition that pronounces the mineral character of Riesling located on steep hillsides along the Rhein river. This wine is a spatlese, a late harvested wine - late picked grapes to obtain flavours of very ripe and mature character.
Rehbach means Deer Creek in German.
Tasting Notes:
Spicy beginning, ripe peaches and juice pears on the palate, phenomenal balance with very little detectable sweetness, long and complex finish, great ageing potential. - Amazingly little analytical residual sugar for extended drinking enjoyment and great food pairing!
Food & Wine match:
This wine would be best served with fish, white meat and poultry dishes.
