Tasting Notes: Wakefield Eighty Acres Shiraz / Viognier is dark red with a slightly purple hue. On the nose there are overt lifted aromas of black berry fruits, plums, licorice and subtle apricots. Underlying aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate, violets and cedar add to the complexity of the aroma. The wine is medium bodied – rich and smooth with delicious flavours of juicy plums, blackberry, licorice and subtle spicy apricot. This is a well integrated and balanced wine with grainy, textured tannins which persist well after the wine has been finished.
Reviews: "An attractive, easy-drinking red from the largest wine estate in the Clare Valley. It's an intensely coloured drop with aromas of raspberries and stone fruits, with floral touches and a thread of sweet oak. In the mouth it's a smooth, medium-bodied red of appealing softness and succulence. It slips down with just a light touch of tannin for structure. A true crowd-pleaser."
