Notes - Situated at the foot of the Pratomagno mountains in Tuscany, the Borro Estate encompasses over 700 hectares. Winemaking at Il Borro dates back to 1760 when the estate was under the rule of the noble Medici-Tornaquinci Family, since 1999 however the Ferragamo Family in conjunction with enologist Niccolo D'Afflitto have developed the winemaking process and their new state of the art winery was opened in 2004. 75% Syrah & 25% Sangiovese, the grapes are hand selected before soft crushing. The alcoholic fermentation takes place over 10 days at 30 degrees Celsius. The maceration on the skins continues for 22 days. The wine is racked in Allier oak barriques, in which the malolactic fermentation takes place and is then aged for 12 months. The wine has a purple ruby red colour. It has an intense, vinous nose with spicy fragrances and black fruit scents. Full bodied on the palate with soft tannins and a long fruity and spicy finish. 13.5% vol.
