Notes - Marsannay is the northernmost commune of the Cote d’Or, lying virtually on the outskirts of the city of Dijon, three miles
north of Gevrey Chambertin. In 1987, Marsannay was granted its own A.O.C. appellation and became the first village for which the appellation applies to red, white and rose wines. The grapes for this wine are taken from the extensive Marsannay village holdings of the old Domaine Clair-Dau estate, which was bought by Louis Jadot in 1985. The Rose de Marsannay is bled, or “saigneed” from vats of Marsannay Pinot Noir grapes after several days of skin contact. It is then fermented and aged in stainless steel vats. Maison Louis Jadot produces a fleshy, lively and fruity Rose de Marsannay that retains a good structure and roundness. Marsannay Rose will be at its best with summer dishes like charcuterie (rillettes, sausage...), frog’s legs, grilled meat...The wine will age 4-5 years in perfect conditions, but is probably best consumed within two to three years of vintage.
