Notes - The vineyard of Chateau Garraud is located on a variety of rich terroirs on the Pomerol plateau - gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with "crasse de fer” and clay-sand. With an average age of 25 years, the vineyard consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. 80% of the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels and then bottled at the Chateau. The vintage of the century for this wine, intense black with crystal-clear highlights. Even though toasty vanilla aromas are quite present, the wood blends in perfectly with the aromas of ripe red fruit. On the palate - nice entry with well balanced acidity, great volume, plump tannins accentuate the long finish. A relatively long life can be expected thanks to the acidity and power of this wine with no harsh tannins. Should drink best between 2008 and 2010. "Rate 9/10. Pomerol, located on the Right Bank of the Gironde, the smallest of the fine-wine-producing district of Bordeaux. The wines of Pomerol are lush and rich an generally not so tannic as the Cabernet-based wines of the Left Bank. This elegant young Merlot-based Bordeaux shows a ruby color with rich aromas of black cherries, vanilla, plum flavors, ripe tannins along with spice and a little tobacco wash over the palate. Perfect with filet mignon or sautéed breast of duck. Excellent Value !!!" Yi-Wen's Wine List, Shanghai Quartet, November 2005.
