Wine information:
Tequila is a Mexican spirit obtained from of the Agave plant, a species native from the Tequila Region. It is a common misconception that Agaves are cacti. Agaves are closely related to the lily and amaryllis families, and are not related to cacti. Only one of the 300+ species of agave is permitted by the Tequila Regulatory Council to produce Tequila - Agave Azul Tequilana Weber; this plant will grow for 5-7 years before being harvested. The spirit gets its name from the town of Tequila located in the state of Jalisco where production started more than 250 years ago. Mexican authorities established in 1974 a Denomination of Origin for Tequila. It can only be produced in the state of Jalisco and in a few specific counties of neighboring states. Lunazul Tequila is proudly estate-grown, distilled and bottled. Made from 100% Blue Agave Tequilana Weber at the Tierra de Agaves Distillery in Tequila, Mexico. Lunazul Blanco has a spicy nose and hints of hot pepper combined with a very smooth mint eucalyptus freshness. "Lunazul Blanco has a wafting bouquet, and a long lasting citrusy, peppery, and herbaceous finish...these splendid tequilas are priced well below what their uncompromised quality would normally dictate." – Robert Plotkin, Beverage Dynamics.
