Notes - The co-operative of Cave des Vigneron de Bel Air has existed since 1929. It is a small, highly regarded co-operative who win many medals in French wine competitions. Recently voted one of top 500 French producers by Guide Hachette. Fleurie is probably the most famous of the 10 Beaujolais Crus and is often referred to as the "Queen of Beaujolais" due to its feminine, soft and elegant style (the fuller-bodied Moulin à Vent would be the King). Fleurie, like all red Beaujolais is made from 100% Gamay grapes and wine from this Cru is usually a medium-bodied style. The Fleurie La Chapelle des Bois is a "Cuvée Terroirs", it is representative ot it vineyard location and aspect more than a simple village wine. The Chapelle des Bois area has different characteristics from the rest of the area and is on higher ground than most of Fleurie. It tends to be a little bit fuller in style than other Fleuries. This is a clear, light red / garnet colour with red fruit and floral notes on the nose. The palate is soft and smooth, there are more red fruits (strawberry, red cherry) and the finish is clean and slighty mineral.
