This is a selection of three of our favourite brandies, a Cognac, an Armagnac and a superb Spanish Brandy. One bottle of each of the following,
Cognac Domaine Le Reviseur VSOP Single Estate Petite Champagne Cognac 40%
Clos Martin XO 15 year old Folle Blanche, Bas Armagnac 40%
Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva (15 year old), Bodegas Sanches Romate Hnos. 42% 70cl
Cognac Le Riviseur produces very high quality Cognacs from the Petite Champagne region. The VSOP is fruity and elegant with a touch of spice and walnuts. It has a lengthy, clean and elegant finish. In contrast the Clos Martin Armagnac is fuller, richer and spicier in style with hints of vanilla, cinnamon, dried orange peel and just a touch of tobacco leaf. The flavour is very fine, rich plum fruit with elements of vanilla, coffee and dried figs. The Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva is a personal favourite. It is actually a 15 year old, although this doesn't appear on the label. It is aged in old Pedro Jimenez sherry casks which give the brandy complexity and sweetness. The SGR is dark mahogany, luminous, clear and shiny in appearance. There are aromas of raisins and plums, espresso coffee and a touch of liquorice on the nose. The palate is sweet and fat with lots of dried fruit and more raisins. Distinctive, unique taste with a very cultured PX-influence and just enough bittersweet coffee and caramel to balance well. Well-balanced, long and nutty. Three of the best!
Please find more information / tasting notes for each of the individual wines on their own pages.
