Wine information:
Cape Mentelle is one of the original wineries of the
Margaret River wine region. Founded in 1970 in one of the most remote wine regions of the world, the maritime influence of the Indian Ocean ensures even temperatures, providing consistently excellent vintage conditions. Cape Mentelle pioneered many of the region’s renowned wine styles and today is a benchmark for the quality of the region’s wines. Cape Mentelle today has over 200 hectares of its own vines across four regional vineyards. Contract-grown fruit is also sourced, with great care taken to build a relationship with growers to reflect regional character. Cape Mentelle has a rich history of exceptional quality and consistency with
Cabernet Sauvignon - for over 30 years the best parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon have been carefully managed to produce grapes with full concentrated flavour and a firm yet fine tannin profile. The grapes are hand harvested and sorted to ensure the best possible expression of fruit character and structure each year.
Tasting Notes:
Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon is dark crimson with reddish hues. The nose has rich dark cherry, juicy blackcurrant and blood plum, with earthy undertones with porcini, wild rocket and violet aromas. A plush full flavoured palate of concentrated blackcurrants and mulberries with a minerally spine.
Reviews:
Try with rare roasted saddle of venison served with caramelised onions and du Puy lentils accompanied by a refined jus.
