Notes - Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is a private Napa Valley estate that has been owned by the Winiarski family since it was established 1972, located at the end of the Silverado Trail, in what is now known as the Stags Leap District. The blend for this wine is 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 28% Sauvignon Musque and 7% Semillon. More than 40% of the fruit for this wine comes from SLWC's BRV vineyard bordering the Napa River in the Oak Knoll district. The balance of the round fruit flavours from BRV are balanced out with the more structured mineral and citrus character of grapes from Terrence Wilson’s Rancho Chimiles Vineyard in Wooden Valley. A tiny portion of Semillon is added, known for its honey, fig, and melon character. The wine is fermented 50% in stainless steel and 50% in oak where it undergoes 6 months sur lees. There is no malolactice fermentation. The wine has a pale green tinge and there are notes of fennel, citrus, lime, grass and straw on the nose. It is also quite chalky and mineral. On the palate there are further citrus notes, it is very fruity and has a dry, refreshing finish. The palate is very stylish and almost French in style.
