Wine information:
Sara and António Ribeiro have at Mouraz established a small beacon of sustainability in the region. With passion and commitment they’ve converted all Antonio’s family 13 Ha vineyards to the biodynamic way over the past 8 years, their enthusiasm and energy now spreading to other growers in their area. This is the “gentle touch” approach to viticulture and winemaking. Casa de Mouraz Tinto is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro (Alfrocheiro Preto, to give it's ful name, local to the Dao) and Touriga Nacional and is partly in aged in fine, French Nevers oak barrels. Casa de Mouraz is a member of the wine groupe Renaissance des Appellations / Return to Terroir and enjoys technical support by Vini Vitis Bio (France), Agridin / João Castella and Vines & Wines (Portugal).
Tasting Notes:
This is a very Portuguese wine, it is a well-structured, full-bodied and serious red. It is well-balanced and the oak is nicely integrated. There are aromas and flavours reminiscent of dark fruits (cassis and blackberry), garrigue and it has a good backbone of minerality and a smoky, long finish.
