Wine information:
Orovela is a super premium wine from Georgia, the world’s oldest vine growing region. Orovela wines are mainly made from oldest Georgian indigenous grape varietals like Saperavi and Mtsvane but using very modern wine-making techniques to produce modern rich tones. Grapes for Orovela are harvested at the Chandrebi Estate, located on the right bank of the Alalzani River, near the village of Ikalto in Kakheti - the main wine producing region of Georgia. "Orovela" are traditional ploughing songs that used to be heard echoing across the land as ploughmen went about their work. This wine is a blend of Saperavi (92%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (8%). Chandrebi Vineyard is located on the right bank of Alazani river between the Caucasus mountains and the Gombori mountain range at the altitude of 700 m. Soil is alluvial / stony-alluvial with little of clay at 1.8m depth. 10% of the blend is barrel matured for 8 months in 50% French oak and 50% is matured in American oak 300 litre barrels. Deep ruby in colour with a brick hue, this wine offers intriguing aromas of mulberry and dark cherry with elegant, vinous flavours. The palate is soft and velvety with supple tannins and fresh, balancing acidity, leaving delicious, lingering impression of these two grapes varieties.
