Wine information:
Maison
Louis Jadot was founded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in 1859. His vision was to build a business with a high quality reputation. One of his key aims, as well as to make top wines, was to build a significant vineyard base. This vision remains core to the business today. Today the business is headed up by Pierre Henry Gagey, son of Andre Gagey, who was entrusted with the management of Louis Jadot in 1962 by Madame Jadot following the tragic death of her son, Louis Auguste Jadot. Pierre Henry is a passionate believer in terroir, allowing the wines to present the very essence of
Burgundy. The Beaune vineyards are the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, between Savigny to the North, and Pommard to the South. There are no Grand Cru vineyards in this commune, but 36 Premiers Crus. The vineyards are almost all situated on a slope and, most of the climats (vineyard sites) are Premiers Crus like
Les Bressandes. This Premier Cru is situated at the North of the vineyard, at the top of the slope above Les Toussaints and Les Cents Vignes and next to Les Grèves. It is considered to be one of the finest white Premiers Crus. The vines at this vineyard were planted 20 years ago. The wine is oak barrels for 18 months prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes:
Louis Jadot Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru is a rare white wine which combines richness and vivacity very well. The wine is balanced and very attractive. A perfumed, well structured, full-fruited wine of generous body and supple texture, with a fine, silky finish.
Food & Wine match:
It will perfectly match fish, cooked shellfish, and hot pâté.
Reviews:
"Sweet and creamy on the nose, vanilla, blossom, pear syrup. Altogether more Australian; opulence in place of austerity." (RH) 16.5 Points, Jancis Robinson
