Wine information:
Trapiche buy grapes from many different growers. Each year they choose three different single vineyard
Malbec , from three different growers to represent the best Malbec that Trapiche can offer in a particular vintage. It is a great accolade for the growers to be chosen for this honour.
Daniel Pi - Trapiche's Head Winemaker - and his winemaking team have lead the unification of vineyard management and winemaking at Trapiche, and are now recognised as the Malbec specialists of Argentina. Each vineyard is located in different areas in Mendoza and at different altitudes, this variation in terroir leads to three markedly different wines. Eleven years ago Adolfo Ahumada made his dream come true when he bacame the owner of the vineyard he called "Le Patria". "El Gringo", as he is called by his family and friends, loves the land and especially his estate in Villa Bastias, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, at 1094m above sea level. Don Ahumada is a very inquisitive, open minded person who has dedicated most of his life to the cultivation of vines. His vineyard is 10 years old and is mainly composed of soil loam with a sandy texture. After harvesting by hand, bunch selection, destemming and then berry selection the grapes undergo fermentation and maceration in small concrete vats for 25 days at 23-25ºC. After some natural malolactic fermentation the wine is then aged 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Trapiche Single Vineyard Malbec Adolfo Ahumada has a deep, ruby color with aromas of ripe, black cherries and spicy notes of inciense and sandalwood. Full-bodied in the mouth, with nuances of candied black-fruit. A long finish that is pure and balanced with sweet tannins and fresh acidity.

Ideal to serve with dishes prepared with red meats and game, hard cheeses and smoked cold cuts.
Reviews:
"The 2007 Malbec Single Vineyard Vina Adolfo Ahumada is purple-colored with a fragrant bouquet of sandalwood, spice box, incense, espresso, black cherry, and plum. Dense and layered on the palate, it has loads of succulent, spicy black fruit, underlying structure, and a lengthy, pure finish. Give it 3-4 years and drink it through 2022. 92pts" Robert Parker.
