Notes - Made only in years which have been blessed by optimum growing conditions, Cockburn's Vintage Port is made from grapes of a single harvest from vineyards whose crops show exceptional quality. Aged just two years in cask the wine is bottled unfiltered, therefore absolutely nothing is taken out. Vintage Ports are made in very small quantities and benefit from 15-50+ years of bottle ageing; because they are unfiltered they will, during that time, throw a thick sediment and require careful decanting and are best served on the day they are opened. When young these wines are massively concentrated with dense leather, liquorice and dark fruit flavours, weighty with intense tannic structure. As they age they mellow and lighten, opening up to reveal multiple layers of flavour and stupendously long lasting finish in the mouth. Ideal as a 40th birthday or anniversary present in 2010.
