Notes - Often described as the King of Beaujolais, Georges Duboeuf is also its most tireless ambassador. Having pioneered modern winemaking in the region and stoked the fires of the Beaujolais boom with unrivalled vigour, he refuses to rest on his laurels. Duboeuf still tastes hundreds of wines each day, and marshals his enormous range almost singlehandedly. Saint Amour is situated at the northern limit of the Beaujolais where the granitic soils of Beaujolais begin to give way to the limestone of the north. Saint Amour in fact borders the Saint-Véran appellation in the Mâconnais. After Chénas, Saint-Amour is the second smallest Cru. 100% Gamay. The Duboeuf 2005 Saint Amour is a ruby red wine which is smooth and rich, with a spicy edge and with hints of peach aromas on the nose. Would go well with lighter white meat dishes such as pork or chicken.
