Notes - The vineyard of Chateau Garraud is located on a variety of rich terroirs on the Pomerol plateau - gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with "crasse de fer” and clay-sand. With an average age of 25 years, the vineyard consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. 80% of the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels and then bottled at the Chateau. The 2004 Garruad is a dense, deep garnet colour. The nose has a preponderance of red, ripe fruit aromas which dominate the more subtle oak notes. The palate has good mouthfeel and firm, ripe tannins and a long, warm finish. "Garraud 2004 ***, Lalande de Pomerol. This must-have 2004 from the Libourne region is not as plump as the 2003, but full-bodied and complex, hearty and lively." Guide Chartier 2008 (Canada)
