Notes - Single Vineyard wines are created from vineyards of exceptional quality when vintage conditions allow these sites to fully express their individual characteristics. Located in the Awatere Valley of Marlborough, the Richmond Brook Vineyard is a cool elevated north facing inland site 180m above sea level. Nestled in a wide open valley, the Sauvignon Blanc vineyard occupies historic prime pastureland. The old free draining soils were laid down by the northwesterly winds that regularly buffer the area. The fruit from the Richmond Brook vineyard was harvested at full ripeness, gently pressed and the finest free run juice was cool fermented, savouring the superior aromatics. Winemaker’s comments: This wine is an excellent example of an Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Abundant melon and citrus lime aromas dominant the bouquet. The palate is tight and steely with underlying richness and length, typical of this sub-region of Marlborough. This wine will gain complexity and roundness with some short term bottle age. Optimum cellaring: December 2007 - 2009
