Notes - Founded in 1967, Carpineto is a partnership between acclaimed winemakers Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zaccheo. Their original mission was to produce a world-class red wine from the Chianti Classico appellation. This was a radical departure from the marketplace of the times when most Chianti was still produced in the traditional winemaking style. Produced in limited quantities, initially as an alternative to DOCG wines, Farnito was first released in 1987 after long experimentation with international varieties. Aged in small oak barrels these wines are released after an extensive bottle-aging program. These “Super-Tuscan” are made from choice, dry farmed, hillside vineyards, to showcase the highest expression of international varieties in Tuscany. The name “Farnito” comes from a type of oak tree named “Farna”. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, ruby, red with orange reflections. The nose is cleanand intense with complex hints of spices, licorice, vanilla and cherries. The palate is full, rich and persistent with a great, elegant tannin structure and finish. Try with roasts, game or cheeses.
