Notes - Paul Michel Bosc, a fifth generation French winegrower who came to Canada in the 1960’s, founded Château des Charmes in 1978. He was the first in Canada to plant a vineyard dedicated to vitis vinifera – the European grape species from which the world’s finest wines are made. They include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Riesling. Château des Charmes Vidal Icewine is a wonderfully sweet nectar fermented with wild yeasts. It exudes aromas of apricots and honey with a beautiful balance between fruit, sweetness and acidity. Icewine is a gift of winter to be enjoyed on its own or served with dessert.
“Intense dried apricot, mandarin marmalade, nalgene, mineral, floral, spicy aromas, very clean vidal. Rich, round, elegant style with good acidity and sugar balance. Lots of marmalade, red apple, spicy, apricot, nectarine skin flavours with a long fruity finish. Very fine Vidal Icewine. 92 pts.” – Anthony Gismondi / David Lawrason, Wine Access, October, 2006.
