Notes - Named after Homer’s description of an Egyptian herbal drink so powerful that it eases grief and banishes sorrow from the mind in the Odyssey, Nepenthe was created by the Tweddell family in 1994. In 1996, Nepenthe received approval to build its winery, only the second in the Adelaide Hills at the time (the first being Petaluma in 1978). Peter Leske (formerly with the Australian Wine Research Institute) was appointed Chief Winemaker. Pale straw with a slight pink tinge. Gently aromatic with pear, quince, musk and some citrus notes. Mouth filling with serious palate weight and a clean crisp finish. Try with - a generous dish of antipasta, the wine has the fruit, weight and acidity to combine with even the most eclectic selection.
