Notes - The vineyard of Chateau Garraud is located on a variety of rich terroirs on the Pomerol plateau - gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with "crasse de fer” and clay-sand. With an average age of 25 years, the vineyard consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. 80% of the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels and then bottled at the Chateau. An excellent wine, crimson in colour. Attractive fruit and notes of fine wood on the nose. A good entry precedes plenty of volume, the tannins are present yet supple, the finish is long. A long-keeping wine that needs some years of cellaring before revealing itself. The Press - "Quite a serious wine with ripe fruit, firm tannic structure and good length." Decanter, June 2002, (UK) . "Among the 10 wines I would seriously consider buying as futures (89-91). Intense tar and tobacco aromas, with hints of ripe fruit. Full - to medium - bodied, with very fine tannins. Better than many Pomerols. I don’t know a thing about it, but it’s seriously good. Almost 92-94." Wine Spectator, James Suckling’s Daily Reports, March 27th, 2002, (USA).
