Tasting Notes: Wakefield St. Andrew's Cabernet Sauvignon is deep earthy red with an intense brick red and plumy hue. Developing cedar, cigar box & leathery overtones. Strong mint fruit with liquorice, coffee and ripe berry characters.Palate of mint, spice and stewed fruit of black currant and cherry. An elegantly structured wine with complexities of mushroom and earthiness. The palate has great persistence of flavour supported by supple French Oak tannins.
Food & Wine match: Perfect with porterhouse steak and mushroom sauce.
Reviews: "St Andrews reds are often oaky, but this one strikes a good balance, it has beef-stock and roast-meat developed characters plus chocolate and Violet Crumble nuances. The palate is fleshy, fruit-sweet and rich, with softness and harmony." Huon Hooke, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine, July 2009
