Wine information:
Nemea Boutari is made from 100% Agiorgitiko (St. George) grapes and is produced at Boutari's Mantinia winery. Also known as Mavro Nemeas, this is considered to be the best red variety in Southern Greece. It produces wines of a deep red colour composed of rich shades, with a fruity aroma, a velvety taste and an affinity for maturation. The Boutari Winery is situated in the historical region of Mantinia and it is one of the oldest wineries in the region. In recent years the winery has been expanded and still undergoes constant modernisation. Nemea is one of the most inportantant VQPRDs (the initials stand for the Quality Wines Produced in a Determined Region - from the initials of the French words "Vins de Qualite Produits dans une Region Determinee") of the Peloponnese and Agiorgitiki is one of the most noble Greek red wine varieties and Boutari has created a wine with a dynamic richness, which fully expresses the terroir of the region. The wine is a deep ruby red colour with purple tints, exuding the aromas of the barrel, red fruit jam, plum and blackberry. A round wine, with a velvety taste, good balance and mild aftertaste. A wonderful accompaniment for dishes based on red meat.
