Pascual Toso Malbec

Wine information: Established in 1890 by Pascual Toso, originally from Piemonte in Italy, Toso is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine producers in Argentina. There are two wineries - both in the premium region of Mendoza World-renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs joined Toso in 2001 to manage a huge vineyard and winemaking investment process which has already shown outstanding results. Toso own more than 400 hectares at 715 metres above sea level at Las Barrancas, in Maipú within the Mendoza river highland. The region is dry with warm summers, cold winters, and excellent sunlight levels which are perfect for the development of flavour, colour and tannins. All fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness, with the grapes for the reserve wines coming from vines over 40-year-old, with only natural yeasts used. Part of this wine, 40% is matured in American oak barrels for twelve months in order to accomplish its structure. 100% Malbec

Tasting Notes: Pascual Toso Malbec is very clean on the nose and full of fruit. The aromas are reminiscent of plums and quince with a little touch of elegant oak. The mouth has blackberry and licorice fruit a firm grip through the finish. Thick and quite chunky. Rich and long finish with smoky accents of vanilla and lingering oak.
