Wine information:
Anakena was founded by old schoolfriends
Felipe Ibáñez and
Jorge Gutiérrez in the Rapel Valley at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the late 1990s. Terroir is an important factor in Anakena's Single Vineyard wines, which is why all grapes for these wines come from our their own vineyards allowing total control over vineyard management. Based in
Requinoa in the Rapel's
Cachapoal Valley, the state-of-the-art winery facility is equipped with stainless steel tanks, French and American oak barrels, and has the capacity to produce 300,000 cases of top quality wine per year. In 2004 the winery achieved the highly acclaimed ISO 14001 standard for its environmental management system, and also constructed its own wastewater treatment plant, the first Chilean winery to do so. The
Pinot Noir grapes for this wine come from the Caven plot. Fermentation takes place between 28-30°C followed by 14-21 days of skin contact and malolactic fermentation anf then 100% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months. Can be served slightly chilled for maximum enjoyment.
