Wine information:
Situated at the foot of the Pratomagno mountains in Tuscany, the Borro Estate encompasses over 700 hectares. Winemaking at Il Borro dates back to 1760 when the estate was under the rule of the noble Medici-Tornaquinci Family, since 1999 however the Ferragamo Family in conjunction with enologist Niccolo D'Afflitto have developed the winemaking process and their new state of the art winery was opened in 2004. Il Borro is the estate's top red wine and is 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and Petit Verdot. The wine is racked in Allier oak barriques, in which the malolactic fermentation takes place and is then aged for 12 months. Intense ruby red with purple reflections. Intense, rich and vinous on the nose with a complex bouquet of red berries, underbrush and sweet spices. Dry, full bodied, warm, smooth, luscious and well integrated tannins, intense, well balanced, very long and a pleasant finish.
