Wine information:
Faustino I, an icon in Spain was first released in 1964. It is one of the great traditional styled Gran Reservas and offers consumers a unique tasting experience. The famous label portrays a painting by Rembrandt of Nicolaes van Bambeeck a Dutch market trader - folklore suggests the portraits were chosen to represent the family´s passions in life of painting, music and trading. Originally to prevent sabotage the gold wire now remains as a gentlemen´s agreement that only the Gran Reservas and Reservas should use the wire. The frosted bottle avoids shocking the wine when it is finally exposed to sunlight after 13 years of ageing in the cellar. It also adds strength preventing it from easy damage. It is aged for over 2 years in a combination of American and French Oak and 3 years in bottle prior to release. Produced from grapes grown on the Faustino Estates including the famous Spanish varieties Tempranillo and Graciano. Faustino I is a perfect match for lamb, poultry and game particularly guinea fowl and pheasant.
