Wine information:
Today Montaudon is one of the rare champagne houses still owned entirely by the founding family. The House of Montaudon is located right at the heart of Reims, a few steps away from the historic Cathedral. The fermentation room, storerooms and two levels of cellars (where bottles for several year’s supply are stocked) are sited in this well integrated centre. Montaudon also owns 45 hectares of vineyards. The Montaudon Grande Rosé is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir is sourced from two villages famous for their quality of red wines: Bouzy (Grand Cru) and Les Riceys. Special attention is given to the still red wine champagne AOC quality which is blended with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to make this delicate Rosé. Contrary to many champagne producers, Montaudon do not use the Brut NV blend as basis for this wine, but the same blend that is used to make their premium wines. Lively deep redcurrant rose colour with many tiny, fine bubbles. Unambiguous blackcurrant flavours as well as fresh red berry fruits. Rounded clear and refreshing on the palate with lingering berry fruit flavours of blackcurrant, redcurrant and strawberry. This champagne is an ideal match for refined food such as caviar, lobster, oyster and smoked salmon. You can also serve this Grande Rosé chilled as an apéritif. Also a perfect accompaniment to chocolate and cream gateau.
