Notes - Les Domaines Paul Mas is a group of four family estates covering 81ha (200 acres) of vineyard on the hills bordering the Hérault Valley in Languedoc in the south of France. They are near the Mediterranean sea, close to the small town of Pézenas which inspired the famous playwright Molière, and not too far from such magnificent historic sites as the Canal du Midi (constructed in 1790 by Paul Riquet) and Valmagne Abbey. Château Paul Mas is part of Domaines Paul Mas estates and covers an area of 10 hectares located on the hills between the Herault valley and the mediterranean coast near the villages of Montagnac and Sète. The vineyard enjoys a South, South west exposure with the cooling influence from the sea. The " Clos des Mûres " vineyard is a specific vineyard of 8.2 hectares, part of the Château Paul Mas (19 Hectares), surrounded by wild mulberry (mûres) plants. An intense garnet red with ruby tints. A complex nose of blackcurrants, violets and dark chocolate evolving towards red berry and hazelnut notes. A well-balanced palate with smooth tannins, rich fruit character and a long length finishing on liquorice and toasty notes. Best served with grilled red meats, rack of lamb, pasta, game and soft cheeses.
