Wine information: From Sweden's first whiskey distillery, Mackmyra is the new generation of Swedish malt whisky, produced using Swedish ingredients at the Mackmyra Bruk mill, which has a tradition of craftsmanship dating back to the 17th century. Mackmyra use newly manufactured Swedish oak casks, made using oak that was planted on the island of Visingsö 160 years ago and intended for use in building warships for the Swedish navy. Mackmyra Special 05 Happy Hunting Swedish Single Malt Whisky is descibed on the Mackmyra website as "autumn warm gold", a reminder of the season whereby people go out hunting, be it for berries or something larger and enjoy the colours, scents and serenity of the woods. Mackmyra Happy Hunting Whisky is aged in oak barrels that have previously held lingonvin (a sort of fruit wine made from longonberries and blueberries). Therefore the Mackmyra Happy Hunting is fruity and packed with berry fruit flavours and well as all the typical whisky flavours and aromas. The colour is a bright golden yellow with red inflections. Definitely an whisky for the adventurous! Mackmyra Special is a drink for special occasions and special people. For those who found the Swedish malt whiskey and want to experience it in more hues.
