Notes - In 1823 Hartwig Kantorowicz established a new, modern distillery in Poznan. That same year a Polish Newspaper announced a competition to find the finest clear vodka in Poland. When Kantorowicz presented his vodka, the president of the judging panel proclaimed it "Exquisite!" the rest of the panel agreed and it was named the best vodka in Poland. Thrilled by the words used to describe his vodka, Kantorowicz decided to call it, "Wyborowa" which literally translates as "Exquisite" in English. The Wyborowa Single Estate concept originated from the 18th century when vodka was distilled at country houses and monasteries. The gentry and monastic orders actually competed with each other to produce the finest quality vodka. At this time distilling vodka also symbolised the achievements of Polish science. The Wyborowa "Pure" is a crystal clear natural vodka made with the finest rye grain which imparts an incredible natural sweetness. Rich, rounded, well-balanced nutty flavours with creamy notes. Savour it over ice, sip it straight from the freezer or use it as the centerpiece to your favorite cocktail.
