Notes - Torres' first North American vineyard carries the name of the family patriarch, Don Miguel. Marimar Torres began planting in 1986, converting it into the only Californian vineyard planted on a totally European style -the vines are planted on a vertical training system oriented towards the southwest, the grafts are Phylloxera resistant and the plant density is of 5,000 vines per hectare, more than four times the traditional Californian density. These characteristics favour competition among plants and roots, reducing yield in the plants. The vines live for longer in this way and develop more intense and elegant aromas, greater concentration of flavours and more balance. Chardonnay grapes from the Don Miguel vineyard in the western hills of Sonoma (Russian River Green Valley, California) develop delicate aromas, great concentration and a balance that is unique to Marimar Torres Estate. A perfect complement to oven-baked fish (turbot, sole, salmon), as well as lobster and poultry. The signature aromas are of fresh apples with delicate floral touches. Clean, fruity and complex on the palate, with plenty of finesse and a long finish reminiscent of toast and spices.
