Tasting Notes: Wakefield Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark cherry red with hints of violet and a slight purple hue. There are varietal aromas of ripe berry fruit, cassis, black olives and cloves are evident with a hint of liquorice, nutmeg and peppermint. An underlying bouquet of spice, cedar chocolate and faint vanilla is also evident from the French Oak maturation. A long and generous palate with fleshy concentrated sweet varietal flavours. A wine of elegant suppleness with persistent rounded tannins, a flowing balance and a seamless finish. Will benefit from cellaring.
Food & Wine match: Try with a roast leg of lamb with mint sauce and roast vegetables or even a cheese platter with dried fruits and nuts.
Reviews: "It's hard to go wrong with the wines from this family-owned Clare Valley producer, which are invariably good value for money. This is a lip-smackingly good, rich and powerful red wine with plenty of oomph on the palate, oak in harmony and soft tannins. It's a juicy and appealing red wine with that indefinable quality: drinkability." Winsor Dobbin, Sunday Examiner, March 2010. View Product Details
