This Estate, a member of Grandes Pagos de Castilla, is an authentic domaine with some 85 acres of vineyards that surround the cellar and are for the exclusive use of the Manzaneque wines. It is planted with the noble varieties, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay, which like their oak casks, were brought from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rodano. The grapes of these varieties as well as the native, Tempranillo, are very carefully selected and processed immediately after their collection from the vineyards. The conjunction of traditional and artesanal methods with advanced technology results in singular and exclusive wines. The Vineyards of the Elez Estate – Sierra de Alcaraz (Albacete) are at altitude of approximately 3000 ft. The composition of this wine is 40% Tempranillo, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 % Merlot and is aged in new and second-fill French and Eastern European oak barrels for 14 months. The wine has a red-cherry colour with purple tones. It is deep, rich, interesting showing flavours of ripe raspberry over layers of spice and toasty aromas. The palate is smooth and flavoursome, with finesse and harmony, ripe tannins and ripe red fruits, with lactic and minerals notes that all combine to give complexity and a long finish aftertaste full of chocolate, liquorice and spicy notes.
