Wine information:
Compass Box is a small independent specialist Scotch whisky company, devoted to making some of Scotland’s premier whiskies through the art of blending. Similar to fine wine negociants, they choose individual casks of whiskies from different distilleries, which offer complementary sets of flavours, and then blend the whiskies in small batches. Their whiskies have unusual names and the labels are contemporary in style; it’s all part of their vision: take a contemporary approach to a traditional product. At the core of everything they create is a desire to bring out a purity of flavour, a richness, a drinking experience that will call people back to their glass; to Compass Box, this is the true measure of a whisky’s quality. A reserve version of Compass Box's classic grain whisky Hedonism, Hedonism Maximus has similar character, but the flavours are much deeper, even sweeter and much more intense. A one-time limited release. This is a very rare blend of grain whiskies - 42 year old whisky from Invergordon distillery in the northern Highlands is complemented by blending with 29 year old whisky distilled at Cameron Bridge in Fife, Scotland's oldest continually operating distillery. A truly rare and truly remarkable whisky for the Scotch whisky Hedonist. Limited to 250 cases (of 6 bottles each) worldwide. The label is specially created to pay homage to one of Scotland's seminal brands, Andrew Usher & Co.'s "Old Vatted Glenlivet Whisky." John Glaser's Notes - Flavour Descriptors - Intense aromas and flavours reminiscent of crème caramel, spice-laden vanilla cream and toffee. Big fat and sweet on the palate. Tremendously long finish. Recommendations - Sipped neat. Distillery Sourcing - The Invergordon distillery (distilled in 1965) 42 year old and the Cameron Bridge distillery (distilled in 1979) 29 year old. Wood - First-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
