Wine information:
Chambolle Musigny lies just north of Vougeot and South of Morey Saint Denis. There are 24 Premier Crus and 2 Grand Crus. It is a very well know commune despite its small size. The Chambolle Musigny vineyards are unique in the Cote de Nuits for the chalky composition of their soil which are just over hard rocky bedrock which stress the vines. “Les Fuees” is situated just near the “Bonnes Mares Grand Cru” vineyard. There are a lot of hard stones and the vineyard has an easterly exposure. “Les Fuees” is in the same vein as the Bonnes Mares. A more delicate feminine style it is very elegant and delicate. It has a quite deep colour and develops fruity, spicy aromas. Underlyingly powerful with very fine tannins. It will match perfectly with sophisticated dishes like red meat with a sauce, ‘Filet Mignon’, game and cheeses like Reblochon.
"Medium red. Knockout nose is sauvage and noble at the same time, combining wild red berries, dried flowers and minerals. Suave on entry, then perfumed and sharply delineated in the middle palate, with enticing mineral and floral notes giving the berry flavors superb lift. Finishes very long and aromatic, with terrific spicy length. Very cerebral wine, as good a sample of a wine not vinified by Lardiere as I tasted here in November. Lardiere told me Jadot began buying from a second supplier of Grands-Echezeaux in 2003, and this estate uses Jadot's barrels. (Readers may recall that the 2003 Grands-Echezeaux was a knockout.)." 94 Points, International Wine Cellar.
"Smoky black tea mingles with fresh blackberry and cassis on the nose and palate of Jadot's 2006 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees, which displays a strikingly chalky undertone and fine-grained but quite evident tannin. Understated and slightly austere, this nonetheless uncannily combines concentration with lift and latent energy, finishing with truly formidable tenacity. I would give it 2-3 years in bottle and would not be surprised to witness it keeping pace with the 2005 over the ensuing half dozen years." 91 Points David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate # 186, Dec 2009
