Wine information:
Tradition and talent blend with passion, precision and patience at Nederburg, where classically structured wines are made with vibrant fruit flavours. Nederburg’s hallmark combination of fruit and finesse continues to be rewarded around the world. Ingenuity is Nederburg’s platform for innovation and houses exciting new blends made from lesser-known varietals or those combined in interesting new ways. Nederburg’s core super-premium wines are accommodated in The Winemaster’s Reserve ensemble, named to honour the long-established tradition of winemaking excellence. For the Winemaster's Chardonnay, grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Malmesbury and Darling regions. The vines, ranging in age from 9 to 13 years and situated on mostly south to south-westerly facing slopes, received either supplementary or drip irrigation. Once fermentation was under way, approximately 40% of the fermenting juice was transferred to a combination of new and second-fill French oak barrels, where the wine remained on the lees for a period of six months. Nederburg Winemaster's Chardonnay is light straw-yellow with tints of green and gold. The nose has aromas of lime and dried apricot with vanilla oak notes in the background. The palate is crisp and fresh with a creamy texture and subtle citrus and apricot flavours leading to a an elegant finish. Excellent served with seafood, fish, poultry or veal dishes.
