Glenmorangie 15 year old Sauternes Wood Finish

Notes - This Glenmorangie 15 year old is intially aged in American oak barrels before being transferred to a old Sauternes barrels for secondary or finishing maturation. It is deep autumnal gold in colour. The nose is rich and syrupy, there are hints of madeira, lemon curd and spices. On addition of water more, spice sultanas, vanilla and lemon peel notes are released. There are hints of Sauternes (naturally). The palate is deep and mouth-coating, quite chewy with flavours of madeira cake and lemon curd. Toasted oak characteristics mingle with honey, lemon and vanilla. The finish is long and sweet with soft sponge cake soaked in vanilla cream and lemon curd and a hint of eucalyptus.
